07/07/10Preparation course with Manifesta 8 Art Mediators
In July the Education Department of Manifesta 8 will start with preparation meetings with Manifesta 8's new team of Art Mediators. The preparation meetings with the newly appointed team of 16 Art Mediators will take place in Cartagena. The team will start by studying the form and content of Manifesta, as a itinerant European Biennial, and will start developing the education activities for the exhibition. Lecturers include historians, artists, educators and curators.
The Manifesta 8 Education Department consists of Yoeri Meessen, Head of Education and External Relations Manifesta Foundation, Belén Cerezo and Clara Boj, coordinators of the Department of Education of Manifesta 8.
In this course, the mediators will study in depth the characteristics of the travelling European Biennial of Contemporary Art Manifesta8 and will start working on the design and the content of some activities of the educational program Manifesta8, which will be put into practice once the Biennial is inaugurated.
On Thursday July 8th, the mediators will visit the city of Cartagena accompanied by a historian, who will provide them vital historical information to know how the city has been evolving and taking shape at a economic, social and political level.
On Friday July 9th, Carlos Granados, mediator of the ¿Centro de Arte 2 de Mayo¿ of the Community of Madrid will share his practical experience in carrying out visits and workshops with the team of Manifesta8 mediators.
On Saturday July 10th, the mediators will talk to some of the curators of Manifesta8 (Dora Hegye, curator of the group tranzit.org, Bassam el Baroni, curator of the group ACAF and Khaled Ramadan, curator of the group CPS), in order to get to know their curatorial concept. On the same day, María Ruido will also meet with the team of mediators, as they will develop a workshop together.
The Department of Education consists of Yoeri Meessen, head of the Department of Education of the International Foundation Manifesta and Belén Cerezo y Clara Boj, coordinators of the Department of Education of Manifesta 8.
